History[]
While getting fitted for a dress her mother is having made for some upcoming event[1] Ash Upton is told by her mom that she will be appearing up at the event with Kay Wheeler as her "date".[2] When Ash makes a fuss, Marie assures her Kay is "gayer than Paris in the spring".[3] When Ash tells Emily about her gay "date" later that evening, she tells her the guy's name is Kay Wheeler. Emily is shocked and tries to deny he's gay,[4] telling Ash Kay was her first middle school crush. She is very disappointed when she learns he is gay.[5]
As a favor to Emily, Ash's mom had Kay deliver the bridesmaid dresses to Tempest.[6]
